The Instituto Universitario Mixto de la Energía y Eficiencia de los Recursos en Aragón (ENERGAIA) is the current name of the former Instituto Universitario Mixto CIRCE (Centro de Investigación de Recursos y Consumos Energéticos), founded in 2009.

In this way, the Institute differentiates its name from the Fundación CIRCE, which, together with the University of Zaragoza, forms ENERGAIA.
Its headquarters are located at the Edificio CIRCE, at the Campus Río Ebro of the University of Zaragoza. It focuses on challenges related to renewable energies, resource efficiency, and sustainability, linking businesses, governments, research centers, and universities, and aiming to solve the current problems in its surrounding environment while also training professionals.

Objective

The main objective of the ENERGAIA Institute is to promote excellence and high-quality research and technology transfer, boosting an energy scenario based on renewable energies, resource efficiency, and sustainability, addressing the needs of society.

Vision

The ENERGAIA Institute aims to be a reference center in renewable energies, resource efficiency, and sustainability at the regional, national, and international levels, capable of providing society with knowledge (research), technologies (transfer and dissemination), and trained people to improve it (training).
As a foundation for this goal, thousands of students from all continents have passed through the ENERGAIA Institute, completing hundreds of doctoral theses, research articles, and European, national, regional, and business projects.
