ENSURE: WP4. Integrating biomass and electrification in rural areas
This WP is focused on specific objectives SO5 and SO6 and includes two tasks.
WP Responsible: Sergio Usón (SU).
Task 4.1 Integration of power demand (biomass boiler with a Stirling engine):
Subtask 4.1.a. Modelling of a Stirling cycle according to the specifications of an existing 25 kWth commercial biomass boiler.
Subtask 4.1.b. The engine will be installed in the boiler and will use the same cooling circuit.
Task 4.2 Integration of the heating demand (Performance analysis of a Heat Pumps and biomass boilers):
Subtask 4.2.a. Modelling of a typical dwelling in a rural environment under different climatic typologies.
Subtask 4.2.b. Analysis of the performance of heat pump systems in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., high humidity) or difficulty of stable power supply (without renewable contribution).
Implementation period: T1-T8.
Milestones and deliverables:
M4.1: The Stirling engine is in operation (T5).
M4.2: Tests of biomass boiler with Stirling engine are completed (T7).
D4.1: Detailed report of the main experimental tests on the Stirling engine (T8).
D4.2: Final report with the main outcomes obtained with the integrated simulation of the HP and biomass boiler in real weather conditions (T8).
Participants: Sergio Usón (SU), Javier Uche (JU), Amaya Martínez (AM).
